Mode 3 are partnered with a leading freight forwarding business to recruit an exciting newly created position. As EU Customs Team Manager, you will be responsible for building a new Customs Clearance team which will focus on EU customs clearance work post BREXIT.

You will be responsible for recruiting, training and leading a new team of coordinators to facilitate the Customs Clearances from the EU on behalf of customers. Your role is to ensure the daily operations of the clearance team are conducted in an efficient and effective manner whilst adhering to, and complying with, company and external authority customs requirements and legislation.

Duties

  • To initially support with project management and process set up to lead excellence in customs management and compliance
  • Recruit, train and manage a high performing team
  • Support and advise customers on all international import / export requirements especially with new processes brought upon by Brexit
  • Work closely with clients and supplier to ensure smooth seamless service levels are achieved
  • Ensure compliance of standard operating procedures for Customs and AEO processes
  • Supporting the department to resolve day to day issues and queries
  • Direct liaison with Customs authorities such as HMRC and other agencies as and when necessary including, but not limited to, Border Force and DEFRA
  • Undertake internal AEO monitoring activities to ensure adherence with HM Customs procedures
  • Monitor and control all cost and revenue at job-file level
  • Assist with the EU Exit preparations within the department and support the UK Brexit project group with customs knowledge and expertise from project planning to implementation and beyond

Requirements

  • Extensive operational customs clearance experience within a freight forwarding / customs brokerage setting
  • In depth knowledge of customs processes, regimes , tariff classification, and customs entries
  • Previous experience in a supervisory role with strong leadership and management qualities
  • Excellent problem solving skills and analytical skills
  • Excellent Customer Service Skills with ability to communicate with people at all level
  • Highly organised and adaptable with ability to work under pressure and to deadline
  • IT Savvy with can do attitude
