This hugely successful and ambitious freight forwarding and logistics group has offices throughout the UK and Europe, and is now targeting exciting further expansion.

Mode 3 are currently partnered to recruit a talented finance leader into this senior strategic role. You will be tasked with overseeing all financial activities, ensuring a motivated and capable finance team with a succession plan, budgeting, disbursing funds to departments, managing risk, implementing policies, and improving financial processes. This will be supported by a senior finance team.

The Group Financial Controller element will involve integrating finance operations, forecasting and budgeting, handling tax matters, preparing financial reports, ensuring organisational financial stability. You will also support the CFO in fulfilment of the Company Secretariat responsibilities.

£95k – £105k + car + bonus + share options + benefits

  • Provision of quality management and financial accounts and KPIs for the Executive, Board and shareholders and monitoring of banking covenants
  • Key relationship with internal and external auditors
  • Preparation of annual financial statements
  • Managing the annual budgeting and forecasting process, monitoring macro-economic conditions and currency movements
  • Monitoring margins, working capital and cash flow in a multi-currency environment
  • Managing insurance, company secretarial and compliance issues ensuring we maintain exceptional compliance in all areas
  • Constant review and updating of systems and controls with the aim to integrate and move towards one company integrated management system
  • Developing financial strategy, including risk minimisation plans and opportunity forecasting. Working closely with senior management and the Board to aid strategic decision-making as the company expands
  • Direct and lead finance staff to ensure that they are appropriately motivated and developed and so that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standard
  • Develop and control the company’s annual operating budget to ensure that all financial targets are met and financial and statutory regulations complied with. Improving efficiencies and reducing costs across the business
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory law and financial regulations
  • Advising on intragroup transactions including agreements, service level agreements and inter-group loans
  • Active involvement in business development and management, and being instrumental in growing the team

Experience Preferred

Qualified chartered accountant
5+ years experience in senior leadership positions
Leadership skills, with steadfast resolve and personal integrity
Exceptional verbal, written, and visual communication skills
Understanding of advanced accounting, regulatory issues, and tax planning
Working knowledge of raising capital beyond traditional lines of credit
Plc experience (advantageous)
International experience (advantageous)
